Multipurpose Hall
Published at: October 12, 2025

Throughout the last year, we at ROMI have been fundraising toward and working on a multipurpose building which would address some of the following needs:
1. Lack of offices: Because of the growth rate of the work, we have filled the offices which Olger and friends had built. We have added staff for the children's program and for the missions/church planting. Currently, there are three people without an office and they use the reception or the storage area to do their work.
2. Lack of storage space: Because we have a feeding program that takes care of 300 children each day, there is always a lot of food that has to be kept safely. In addition, the church and mission department have a lot of sound equipment and instruments that need to be kept in a safe place. The children's department has supplies for camp such as sports gear, basins, buckets and kitchen items. We also have children's shoes and backpacks since it is much more affordable to buy them wholesale. When there is any event that necessitates additional resources to be kept in the storage space, it becomes quite a challenge.
3. Lack of sleeping quarters: Because of the events we host at ROMI and the many young people who have nowhere else to go when schools are closed, we build several rooms where people can stay when they are here. However, the space is not enough and when we have the missions training period for our kids who have finished high school, we have to rent apartments for several months. The girls are currently using the nicer rooms we have while the guys are sleeping in a temporary building that was used for building supplies. During camps and conferences, we're renting sleeping quarters and mats (since we don't have space to store them) from local schools or churches which becomes quite expensive with the events we host
4. Lack of classrooms: Almost every department in ROMI is struggling from the lack of classrooms. The slum feeding program teachers struggle to handle children from age 3 -14 together in a way where they're actually able to reach them, the church's Sunday school kids meet outside so if it rains, they're not able to have classes, for camps, at least we can now use the classes the way they are despite their not being sound or weather proof
5. Lack of meeting hall: we're grateful for the space we have in the start of the building so far as it is much better than being under tents as we were before but we still have a challenge of not having a proper place for church and other larger gatherings. We're using the bottom floor for now but that is meant to be offices, storage space and some classrooms so that the middle floor will have more classrooms and dorm space. With the building not being complete and us being close to Mount Kilimambogo, there is also a challenge of wind, rain and cold which at times causes the whole congregation to shift from one side of the building to the other mid-sermon
These are some of the challenges we believe completing the multipurpose building would address and we would be grateful for anyone who would be able to pray and stand with us.
