Biography

Daniel is a young boy in grade 8 at a local Junior Secondary School, whose life has been shaped by profound loss, resilience, and the strength of family. In 2014, Daniel's mother tragically passed away due to complications during childbirth, leaving him and his four siblings without their main caregiver. Just a year later, in 2015, their father died in a road accident. This devastating series of events forced Daniel and his siblings to grapple with the emotional trauma of losing both parents while struggling to survive without the financial support they once had. Now living with their aunt, who became their guardian, the siblings face additional challenges. Their aunt is not financially stable and has limited resources to care for her late sister’s children. Despite these hardships, Daniel shows remarkable strength and resilience. He is in need of support to help navigate these difficult circumstances and pursue his education and future.

About Daniel's Home: Makueni

Makueni County is a part of Southeastern Kenya generally known as Ukambani. The climate is usually hot and dry making farming a challenge and food supplies short. The main diet in these areas is corn products, beans, some fruits and green vegetables such as kale when the weather permits. The main language spoken is Kikamba and the primary religion is Christianity though there is still much traditional superstition and a recent influx of Islam.
