Biography

Muuo is a resilient, ambitious and focused  young boy currently in grade 9 at Muliluni Primary School. His life was altered in 2019 when his father tragically lost his life in a severe road accident. This sudden loss thrust his mother into the role of sole breadwinner, bearing the immense responsibility of managing the family needs. She takes care of Muuo, his two siblings and three of Muuo’s cousins. The mother does casual day labor jobs and engages in perennial farming to provide for the family. However, the yields are low due to insufficient rainfall which leads to reduced source of food and income hence leading to financial instability. Despite all this , Muuo demonstrates an unwavering commitment and focus in his academics focusing on completing his current studies in grade 9 and advancing to grade10. With the right support, he believes he can overcome these obstacles and fulfill his potential. Could you be the one to make a difference in Muuo's life?

About Muuo's Home: Makueni

Makueni County is a part of Southeastern Kenya generally known as Ukambani. The climate is usually hot and dry making farming a challenge and food supplies short. The main diet in these areas is corn products, beans, some fruits and green vegetables such as kale when the weather permits. The main language spoken is Kikamba and the primary religion is Christianity though there is still much traditional superstition and a recent influx of Islam.
