Biography
Catherine's father tragically passed away in an accident. After a short while, her mother also passed on, which left her and her four siblings in the care of their Aunt, who relies on casual work to make ends meet. Currently in grade 6 at a local Primary, Catherine faces many challenges daily. The hardest part for her aunt is balancing the need to keep all of them in school while also ensuring there's food on the table. About Catherine's Home: Machakos
Machakos County is a part of Southeastern Kenya is generally known as Ukambani. The climate is usually hot and dry making farming a challenge and food supplies short. The main diet in these areas is corn products, beans, some fruits and green vegetables such as kale when the weather permits. The main language spoken is Kikamba and the primary religion is Christianity though there is still much traditional superstition and a recent influx of Islam.
