Overview
Biography
Neema is a hardworking and friendly young girl. She is currently in grade 2 at local Primary School, the first in her village. Neema lives at home with her parents and two siblings. However, since her parents never had the opportunity to receive an education, they are unable to leave the village and look for work. In Turkana county, it is too hot and dry for farming and besides herding goats, the community is very dependant on support from the government or other organizations. We believe with an education, children like Neema will be the change for the next generation and we will see a transformation, not only in her life but in many others through her. Would you be the one that grants her the opportunity to grow into all God created her to be?
About Neema's Home: Turkana
Turkana County is a part of Northwestern Kenya located in the former Rift Valley province. Turkana is majorly arid and semi-arid, and the climate is very hot and dry making farming and supply of food a constant challenge. This county is also marginalized due to poor infrastructure.
The main diet in these areas is not predictable since they rely majorly on relief food. The main language spoken is Turkana and the primary religion is traditional African beliefs. In recent years, both Christianity and Islam have also been competing for the hearts of the people here.
