Biography

Alice is a friendly and hardworking young woman. She comes from a challenging family background where her Dad, a truck driver for many years, lost his job due to a railway that was developed in the area. Because of his lack of education and lack of opportunities in their home area, he has not been able to get a job since then. Alice’s Mom does her best to provide for the family from her roadside produce stand but struggles to keep up with the four children’s daily needs as well as their school fees. Alice only made it through high school because she was the leader of the Christian students and the teachers stood with her, helping one another to pay her fees. Alice desires to continue to sharpen her skills and study nursing so that she can give back to her community and be the change her family so desperately needs. Would you be willing to stand with her?

About Alice's Home: Kitui

Kitui County is a part of Southeastern Kenya generally known as Ukambani. The climate is usually hot and dry making farming a challenge and food supplies short.   The main diet in these areas is corn products, beans, some fruits, and green vegetables such as kale when the weather permits. The main language spoken is Kikamba and the primary religion is Christianity though there is still much traditional superstition and a recent influx of Islam.
