Biography

Jacinta is a humble, jovial, and dedicated young woman who is currently in grade 11 at a local Secondary School. Both parents passed on some years back, leaving her and her only sibling under the care of their aging grandmother. After some time, the grandmother was not able to work due to old age and therefore could not provide them with food and school fees. It is at this point that their aunt, who does a casual job, took them to live with them. The aunt has four children who are also in school, and she is struggling a lot to keep them all in school. Jacinta lives at school by the mercy of the Principal and depends on well-wishers for shopping. Let’s keep her in our prayers.

About Jacinta's Home: Makueni

Makueni County is a part of Southeastern Kenya generally known as Ukambani. The climate is usually hot and dry making farming a challenge and food supplies short. The main diet in these areas is corn products, beans, some fruits and green vegetables such as kale when the weather permits. The main language spoken is Kikamba and the primary religion is Christianity though there is still much traditional superstition and a recent influx of Islam.
