Biography

Mercy is a sweet, friendly and ever smiling young girl. Sadly, she lost both of her parents when she was young and has since then been living with her aged grandmother who is also taking care of many of Mercy's cousins. At home, it is difficult for them to get a good meal to eat, let alone having their educational needs met. Mercy has stayed in class due to her effort and the compassion of the teachers with whom she has found favor. We believe with support, Mercy has the potential to become a light in her family, community and society. Would you walk this journey with her?

About Mercy's Home: Makueni

Makueni County is a part of Southeastern Kenya generally known as Ukambani. The climate is usually hot and dry making farming a challenge and food supplies short. The main diet in these areas is corn products, beans, some fruits and green vegetables such as kale when the weather permits. The main language spoken is Kikamba and the primary religion is Christianity though there is still much traditional superstition and a recent influx of Islam.
