A Deeper Look at Torch Bearers Missions Training Program

At Restoring Order Missions International (ROMI), we're committed to empowering the next generation of leaders and missionaries. Our Children of the Light sponsorship program has been a cornerstone of our ministry, providing support and resources to children in need. Now, we're excited to introduce the Torch Bearers program, a missions training initiative designed specifically for our sponsored children as they transition from high school to college.

A Seamless Transition:

The Torch Bearers program was born out of a desire to provide our sponsored children with a seamless transition from high school to college. We recognized that the period between high school and college can be a critical time in a young person's life, filled with uncertainty and possibility. By providing a structured missions training program, we can help our young people develop their faith, skills, and character, setting them up for success in their future endeavors.

A Comprehensive Curriculum:

The Torch Bearers program runs for six months, with three months spent at ROMI's mission base and three months in Turkana county at village schools that need support. During this time, our students will receive comprehensive training in seven key areas:

1. Biblical Foundations: Our students will delve into the basics of the Christian faith, exploring the key doctrines of the word of God and discussing how they apply to our lives today
2. Life Skills: We'll equip our young people with essential life skills, including communication, teamwork, and problem-solving
3. Praise and Worship: Our students will learn the art of leading others in worship, developing their musical talents and spiritual gifts
4. God's Work of Grace: We'll explore the concept of God's grace and how it applies to everyday life. This course focuses on the salvation and sanctification of the believer
5. Journey Through the Bible: Our students will embark on a journey through the Bible. In 83 lessons, the story of God's passion for man is unfolded 
6. Door-to-Door Outreach: We'll train our young people in the art of sharing their faith with others, equipping them with the skills and confidence they need to engage in door-to-door outreach each week
7. School Outreach: While in training, students have an opportunity at least once per week to visit a local primary school where they have the opportunity to impart their faith to the children there

Hands-on Experience:

The Torch Bearers program is designed to provide our students with hands-on experience in missions. By spending three months in Turkana county, our young people will have the opportunity to apply their skills and knowledge in a real-world setting. They'll work alongside local teachers and community leaders, sharing the love of Christ with children and families in need.
